im a smoker who wants and needs to quit im 14 and on probation and i need to turn my life around and turned to god

It's so hard for people to understand if they've not experienced it. I had an easier time quitting drinking than I did smoking. Sometimes when I really want one I just have to crank the radio and sing as loud as I can until I drive the devil away...LOL. I've been praying about this for years now. I talked to a couple ladies at work who are struggling now to quit before the price goes up again. I will say this...God was definately in it this time. In the past when I tried I would have every concieveable withdrawal symptom possible...muscle spasms, vomiting, insomnia for days, dizziness, sweating, shaking...you name it. I felt like I had the DT's. This time...it's not been a piece of cake or anything...but it's been liveable. I just thank God he's helping me every day. I know I'm not out of the woods...I've quit for years in the past...but I think the best any of us can do is just decide we won't do it today.

Great job pearl... Don't worry about how You found the path as long as You got on it!I am praying for everyone and congrats Nancy! I pray u are still doing well! I am doing Really well also! Im not smoking but I am still in the everything seems to be glass half empty! I am going to blame it on my body's lack of cig's. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! I still want one whenever I get real stressed but I don't do it. God Bless everyone

I'm at day twelve and somehow in one day my washer and my garbage disposal both managed to die today...dryer was last week...I have a family of four and we have a lot of garbage and dirty clothes. let me tell you...

Anyway, I am past the phase of thinking about a smoke every thirty seconds or so. I'm now on to the phase that I am convinced there is no joy left in the world.

I quit twice before...each time for two years, so I am very familiar with the phases and this will pass. However, it is not pleasant at present. I guess my biggest embarassment is that it took a bout of pneumonia to get me to quit. I literally left the emergency room and lit up as soon as I got to my car. Then I thought to myself just how stupid that was, and just how addicted I'd become, and how pneumonia is something a person could concievably die from, and how once a person gets it, it tends to come back....that was the general progression of my thoughts, anyway. I realized that if this didn't motivate me nothing would and I'd better take the cosmic hint.

Well I was doing great for a few weeks but being off of work and having smokers around me proved to be hard and I had a few on mon and tues but I am back to being ok.... I'm praying cause Its really hard when someone your with alot smokes so I am praying for them to want to quit also!
