I need help. I made the mistake of posting the claim, in a forum following a poll, that America was founded on Christian principles, and that our Founding Fathers had no intention of kicking God out of our government. The person I'm arguing with is Jen Batkins. He doesn't describe what he is, but he acts like a professor. He is convinced that our country was not founded under God and he brings out "proofs" of such. The problem is, is that it's very difficult for me to argue with him. I know I'm right, but he rattles off a statement or letter of individuals such as Madison and Adams and uses those as "proofs". But I know that the bigger picture is much more than that. The problem is is that I haven't got the collegiate knowledge of our historical documents and of our Founders. Nor am I very good at arguing. Certainly not convincingly or charimatically. I need help with arguing with him. If any of you are inclined to help me, and I hope you do, read the attached file called 'Arguing with a Know-It-All'. I know that Jen is using only the material that he thinks helps his argument against God in America; I know he's cherry-picking. But I need your help to argue. I don't want to let God or my country down. Thank you for your time.

I suggest that you Google * America was founded on Christian principles* You will be amazed at the pool of resources you will find to back your argument. I hope any member with an in depth knowledge of the American history reads this and helps. God bless you!

Thank you Ama. FYI, using that search I found: http://www.jeremiahproject.com/culture/heritage.html. It's an excellent website. I know however, that no matter what I show to those humanists, they will reject it because their ego makes them blind.

Keep in mind, if what he says is true, then why are we the country out of 210 registered with the United Nations whose founding documents, all of them, pay homage to almighty God.

Hi Alice, You have stumbled into Satans trap... he has minions all over the place, strategically placed to "oppose the statement that this nation was founded upon Christian principals."

These people are trained in this, and they have all the right words to oppose any who come across their path, they lay in wait in fact, hopeing someone will dare to make this statement.

I have heard ( don't know this for a fact ) that they have actully succeeded in having pertinant documents removed from historical places. They are a very strong force to be reckoned with, and most of us are not in any way prepared to meet them head on.

I see evidence that God is raising up ones that can and will oppose them, they are one of the Goliaths of our day.

I would suggest that you invite every Christian you can find to the site, to participate in the discussion, and particularly those who seem to be at least partially equipped to handle these people.

They are in fact, a well trained army, and they have one purpose in mind, to remove every trace of Christianity from this country. This is one of the fights that we face in our day. Our forefathers and our sons and daughters now, fought physically for the freedom of this country, and now ,it is our call to arms, to fight for the truth, and to come out victorious, because Jesus is truth ,and he is with us.

Put on the full armor, and call out to him for wisdom in knowing how to address this issue, asking him for backup support, that is knowledgable and trained in this area.

To God be the Glory.. and may David also bring down this current Goliath. Amen.

Maria and Walker, so what about the dollar? It is the design of American money that also has 'In God We Trust' on it. It is said that the symbols are Masonic. So then what about any design of currency of any nation? What has currency got to do with it? America is founded on Christian principals. Unfortunately, we are infested with revisionists of both history and politics, and both have to be fought against. Maria and Walker, I want YOU to actually study American history and stop using innocuous things like the design of the dollar bill as an excuse to be blind. You are blind. You are blind to the fact that our Founding Fathers used the Christian faith and principals to design creation of our nation. You are blind to the fact that our Founding Fathers were also afraid that our nation may not last very long because of human weakness and perversity that is very observant in the White House right now. The lack of honest education and honest communication has allowed someone like Obama to be elected as President, and without even proof of American natal citizenship. But we, still as a true Democratic Republic, still have time to recover and reverse the path toward destruction.

You, Maria and Walker, are blind to the fact that we haven't had slavery in a long, long time. There was controversy about America having slaves since America's beginnings. After all, the practice of it did not fit in with the fact that America was founded on Christian principals. Finally, in the 1800's, something was done. Those who held true to the Christian principal fought against slavery, lost life and limb, and won. For someone who uses the quote "It is not where you came from, but where you are going" you seem to like to hark back to our days of slavery while ignoring the fact that muslim-controlled countries are even in the present openly practicing slavery. Tell me, Maria and Walker, tell me about discrimination that takes place in America and ignore the inhumanity that goes on in so much of the world. But you're not bothered by that. Your mission is to jump on America. Tell me about all the cemeteries for American soldiers in various nations who lost their lives for the defense of those countries against evil. Tell me about the Christian charity that comes out of America to help other nations and people in need; charity that is not brought about by government taxation but by the good will of the American people themselves. No, of course not. You, Maria and Walker, like politically correct stooges, can't resist the temptation to jump on America. Tell me, Maria and Walker, what country are you from so that I can research it and jump on you and your country for every dark stain it has? And just like you, I can ignore every good thing it may have and amplify the bad even if it means revisionism of facts. Doing that is such a thrill for you, right? It never occurred to me to lambaste another's history until people like you came along.

Maria and Walker, has the Second Coming of Christ happened yet? Apparently it has, because you're jumping on America for its human frailties for having been made by and occupied by humans. Yet, Christ must not have returned, because the whole world is still occupied by liars, the covetous, the hypocrites and the arrogantly ignorant.

Tell me Maria and Walker, all about the American dollar bill. Give me every fact on every detail on the dollar bill.

One of my favorite parts of attending Vacation Bible School as a child was the music. I enjoyed the Bible stories, crafts and being with my friends but singing was definitely the highlight of my day. I particularly loved the songs that included hand motions and can, to this day, remember most of those songs and hand motions.
One of my favorite songs was "Oh, Be Careful Little Eyes." The lyrics and melody are simple but the truth of this song is profound.

A study was done of concentration camp survivors to determine the common characteristics of those who did not die from disease or starvation. Victor Frankl was a living answer to that question. Before the Nazis threw him into a concentration camp, he was a successful psychiatrist. After his rescue, Victor Frankl traveled the world, sharing his story: "There is only one reason why I am here today. You kept me alive. Others gave up hope. I dreamed that someday I would be here telling you how I, Victor Frankl, had survived the Nazi concentration camps. I've never been here before, I've never seen any of you before, and I've never given this speech before. But in my dreams, I have stood before you and said these words a thousand times."
Outlook determines outcome. Victor Frankl survived because he chose a right focus, keeping his eyes fixed on what was ahead. Proverbs 4:25 explains, "We need to keep our eyes focused on what is right and look straight ahead to what is good." The picture painted here is one of an "upright" life, a life of "moral purity." We serve a holy God who is very serious about sin - serious enough to send His son, Jesus Christ, as payment for that sin. We claim the miracle of blood-bought forgiveness while flirting with sin. We give lip-service to God's sacrifice while allowing impurity to negate its power in our lives. We point others to the cross when we are the ones in desperate need of its deliverance.
When it comes to having a right focus, not only do we turn away from what is worthless but we turn to what is worthy. In yesterday's devotion, we discovered that Satan knows if he can control the mind, then he has won the battle. Who wins that battle is up to us and hinges on the choices that we make. The battle of the mind is won by controlling and filtering what we set before our eyes. In Psalm 101:3, we find an important key to guarding our mind, "I will set before my eyes no vile thing" (NIV). "Vile" means "evil one or troublemaker." Anything that is not feeding and nourishing the soul is depleting the soul, originates with Satan himself and will bring nothing but trouble. If it is not of God, it will numb you to what is of God. Be very careful what you place before your eyes - books, movies, television, magazines. We foolishly believe the lie that we "can handle it." If we could handle our sin, there would have been no reason for Jesus Christ to give up His life in order to pay for that sin. We are lost without Him!
I once lived in a small, rural community where cows were familiar neighbors and lost cows a common occurrence. How does a cow get lost? It starts nibbling on a patch of green grass. When it finishes, the cow looks ahead to the next patch of green grass. That patch digested, the cow looks ahead to the next patch of green grass and starts nibbling on that one. Then it nibbles on a patch of grass right next to a hole in the fence. The cow then sees the green grass on the other side of the fence so it nibbles on that one and then goes on to the next one and the next one. The cow finally looks up to discover it has nibbled itself into being lost.
We do the same thing. We bury our heads in the patches of everyday living. We make a single wrong choice and instead of looking up for forgiveness, instead of looking straight ahead for new direction, we look around for another wrong choice. Soon, we find ourselves at the bottom of a pit wondering how we got there. We must learn to keep our glance on the circumstances and our gaze on Him.
Let's Pray
Dear Father, please help me to focus on Your plan and purpose for my life. I keep looking in the wrong places for the right answers. I confess that I often keep my gaze on things that do not please You. Today, I ask You to give me the strength and power to look for You in every circumstance and to keep my focus on You.

Don't Mess With Texas ... Textbooks!

By now, you most likely know that Texas has become ground zero for the latest battles in the textbook wars. While conservatives and progressives take their stands on the issue, I wonder: What would America's Founders think about this feud?

For those who somehow have dodged the news, the 15-member Texas State Board of Education, which is composed of 10 Republicans and five Democrats, has been hearing and debating variances of opinion regarding what to include and exclude in its social studies curriculum and subsequent textbooks.

Last Friday, the SBOE members began to wrap up the process by endorsing a draft proposal of the state's social studies curriculum, with an 11-4 vote.

Not surprising is the full range of progressive issues that liberals want the SBOE to include, from emphasizing equity and tolerance for all minorities to erasing key conservative figures and events from history and whitewashing the Judeo-Christian convictions of our Founders.


Liberals and progressives complain that conservatives are hijacking the curriculum process and modifying textbooks to fit their ideological whims. But the history of textbook alterations clearly has proved it is the liberals who have changed the course and content of curricula and textbook production. Conservatives have been largely the guardians or preservationists of tradition. Progressives have changed curricula content to pacify the politically correct and adopt what they value today and want others to value tomorrow.

Interestingly, in 2009, authors Gary Tobin and Dennis Ybarra of the Institute for Jewish & Community Research found some 500 imperfections and distortions concerning religion in 28 of the most widely used social studies and history textbooks in the United States.

The fact is that the majority of the SBOE's members find themselves in good company, in line and legacy with America's Founders. Their educational philosophy even included teaching on the Bible. As Benjamin Rush, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, wrote: "Let the children who are sent to those schools be taught to read and write and above all, let both sexes be carefully instructed in the principles and obligations of the Christian religion. This is the most essential part of education."

Noah Webster, the "Father of American Scholarship and Education," stated, "In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, ought to be instructed. ... No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."

In 1789, during the same time when the First Amendment was written, then-President George Washington signed into law the Northwest Ordinance, which states, "Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged."

Does anyone not know what the term "forever" means? Can any member of the SBOE or any other state board of education be penalized for agreeing with America's Founding Fathers?

As I wrote in my newly released and expanded paperback version of "Black Belt Patriotism," if you want to join me in stopping educational corruption, gridlock and tyranny, then consider doing any of the following:
--Stay active in your child's education, homework, classroom, PTA, school board, etc.
--Get familiar with how academic curriculum is reviewed and chosen in your state, and then e-mail your thoughts on it to your state's education board.
--Get involved in local, state and national politics, and make your voice heard. The time for passivity is over. As Thomas Jefferson once said, "All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."
--Learn your state's laws on education, and understand your parental and educational rights. Then teach them to others. To quote Thomas Jefferson again, "Educate and inform the whole mass of the people. ... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."
--Petition your representatives to support a constitutional amendment protecting the child-parent relationship from unreasonable government intrusion.
--Consider petitioning your state's education board, school district and local school to adopt the National Council on Bible Curriculum in Public Schools' curriculum about the influence of the Bible in history, civilization, law, literature and the founding of America.

My personal warning to educational tyranny and tyrants is this: It's best not to test or mess with Texas. If you thought we fought hard for the Alamo, wait until you see what we can do for the right to educate our children. You can hide behind your No. 2 pencils, but our branding irons will find your tail sides.
